The Solo Bach Competition

Open to violinists, violists, cellists and double bass players of conservatoire standard and beyond up to 30 years of age.

Contrasting movements from a Sonata, Partita or Suite by J S Bach to be performed. Initially candidates are asked to submit a CD (which should be of good quality) of two contrasting movements from their chosen work. Those admitted to the second round will be allowed 10 minutes live performance time. Up to 10 selected finalists will be invited to perform an entire Sonata, Partita or Suite (or the complete Ciaconna from Partita No. 2 in D minor) on the Sunday afternoon. Final rounds will take place before an audience at The Great Hall, Bishopsgate Institute, London EC2.

First prize £1,000 and performance opportunity in central London. Second prize £500. Third prize £300.
