The Solo Bach Competition 2010
Open to violinists, violists, cellists and double bass players of conservatoire standard and beyond up to 30 years of age.
Contrasting movements from a Sonata, Partita or Suite by
J S Bach to be performed. Initially candidates are asked to submit a CD (which should be of good quality) of two contrasting movements from their chosen work. Those admitted to the second round will be allowed 10 minutes live performance time. Finalists may play up to 15 minutes
(which will allow time for the Ciaconna from
Partita no. 2 in D minor). Final rounds will take place before an audience at The Great Hall, Bishopsgate Institute, London EC2.
First prize £1,000 and performance opportunity in central London. Second prize £500. Third prize £300.
